Special Events

During the year the Deardoff Senior Center holds several special events. 

Food and entertainment is provided for the parties. For some events there is a small fee.

 

Mardi Gras Party

  • Each year a Mardi Gras Party is held.
  • Always on a Saturday.
  • Food and entertainment are provided.
  • A $10.00 admission fee is charged to cover food and entertainment.
  • Entertainment is normally Dixieland Music by the "Riverboat Rats". 

 Travel with your Deardoff friends

  • Each year the DSC has several day trips to interesting sites and schedules a longer trip.
  • See "Hot Topics" for the next scheduled upcoming trips.

Flu Shot Clinic in the fall - Generally in October

  • 10: A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
  • Medicare Part B will pay for shots.
  • Flu Shot - $30.00
  • Pneumonia Shot - $45.00

Senior Health Expo

  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM on selected dates, generally in the Summer quarter
  •  Several exhibitors provide health screenings and information valuable for seniors.
  • Open to the public.
  • Door Prizes & Refreshments are available.

 

Veterans Day Luncheon

  • 12:00 Noon on November 11 of each year.
  • Veterans are free, a charge of $4.00 for all others.

 

AARP Tax-Aide

  • During income tax season, from February 1 to April 15 of each year AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are at DSC to prepare free of charge and e-file, your standard income tax form.  They will not do complex returns.  They specialize in persons 60 and over and those of low-income of all ages.  Appointments are required.  Call 937-743-8100 for an appointment.
