Programs at DSC

 Deardoff Senior Center has several programs for our seniors.  Please consider joining in on one or more of these programs, as your time allows.

"Ding-A-Ling" Chorus

  • 2:00 PM practice every Tuesday. 

  • Have fun singing your heart away. 

  • Join the Ding-A-Lings; we are always looking for new members. 

  • Throught out the year we perform at nursing homes, retirement communities, local events and at DSC special events.

  •  Our grand performance each year is the "Wrinkle Review" held in the autumn each year.  The "Wrinkle Review" is the major fund raiser for the DSC.  The "Wrinkle Review is on a Saturday in either October or November at 7:00 PM, generally at the Franklin High School Auditorium, 750 E. 4th St.  Tickets will go on sale September 1 at the Deardoff Senior Center.

Bingo

  •  1:00 - 3:00 PM every Friday.

 

Blood Pressure Screening

  • 12:30 - 1:00 PM every Thursday.

  • Sponsored by Kingston of Miamisburg and Liberty of Middletown

 

Book Exchange 

  • The DSC provides a space where our members may trade books. 

  • It saves you a lot of money.

  • Bring in a book you are finished with and take one that another has finished.

 

Bridge

  •  1:00 - 4:00 PM every Monday

  • 12:30 - 4:00 PM every Wednesday

  • In addition bridge clubs meet at the DSC on a regular basis.  They must be scheduled in advance to reserve accommdations.

 

Open Cards

  • Second Tuesday of each month

  • 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

  • Come play your favorite card game with your friends.

 

Carry-in Luncheon & Birthday Celebration

 

  • 11:00 AM on the fourth Friday of every month, except November & December when it is the 3rd Friday.

  • Bring your favorite dish to share as we all celebrate the month's Deardoffers birthdays.

  • Always good food, always fun, always exciting.

  • Birthday cake is provide by Heartland of Miamisburg.

  • Door prizes are provided by, "Friends of the Deardoff Center."

  • And of course we sing "Happy Birthday" to you.

Crochet With Jim & Sandy

  • By Appointment, call 937-743-8100

  • You will enjoy the company of follow members and have fun at the same time as you crochet something for yourself, a gift for a friend, or to donate to the DSC craft sale.

 

Euchre

  •  1:00 - 3:00 PM every Monday and Thursday 

Exercise

  • 10:00 - 11:00 AM every Monday, Wendesday and Fraiday. 

  • Exercise with Richard Simmons and Ann Porter. 

  • Exercise improves your mind and strengthens your body.

Ceramics Class     

 9:00 -11:00 AM every Tuesday and Thursday.

Make and decorate your favorite ceramic item.

It can be used for a gift for a family member or friend or placed in the DSC craft sale.

Don't know how to work with ceramics, but want to learn?  Dot will teach you and you will beocme an expert.

 

 

Elderly Services Program (ESP) of Warren County

  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM every Wednesday.

  • ESP provides support services that help senior adults 60 years of age and older, remain safe and independent in their own homes.  Services include Home Delivered Meals, Homemaking, Personal Care, Respite Care, Medical Transportation, Adult Day Services, Electronic Monitoring Services, Independent Living Assistance and Minor Home Repair.

  • A Warren County ESP Case Manager is a DSC every Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. to assist you. 

  • Appointments are required.  Call 937-743-8100 to set up an appointment with the Case Manager.

  • We have a wonderful selection of current movies
  • So get a few friends together and ENJOY

WII Sports

  • WII is sweeping the Senior Centers everywhere.  DSC has the equipment and wanting members to join in the fun.  

  • We compete with other Senior Centers in the area.

  • No heavy bowling ball, just a light hand held remote.  Can be played standing up or sitting down.

  • Please call the Senior Center if you are interested and we will set the dates for practice.

  • Sign up and come have fun with other members

Computer Classes

  • Individual computer classes are given by appointment for Deardoff members.

  • Call the Senior Center at 937-743-8100 with your interest and the instructor will contact you to set up a time.

Food Pantry Food Collection Site

The DSC also collects food for the Franklin Area Food Pantry.  A box is available in the hallway near the kitchen to drop your donations.
